What is an announcement?

Announcement is a notice, message, statement – either written or spoken – which is intended to tell people or the public about something. The notice, message, or statement is made known to public in different forms. A written announcement may be found in newspapers, pamphlets, posters, websites, letters, etcetera. A spoken announcement can be heard on television, or the radio. The folowing is an example of announcement.

Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Schnepp of Manchester, N.H., announce the engagement of their daughter, Abby Patricia Schnepp, to Christopher Michael Walsh, son of Rosemary and Edmund Walsh of Newport, R.I.

The future bride graduated from Dartmouth College with a bachelor of arts degree. She is employed as a librarian at the Boston Public Library.

The future groom received a bachelor of arts degree from Brown University and a master of science degree in economics from Boston College. He is employed as professor of economics at Suffolk University.

A September 2010 wedding is planned and the couple will live in Boston.
